An addendum from Dr. Flora van Orden III, Dr. Ann’s assistant for over 20 years:

In her drawer in Boston I found a letter from the Nobel Committee in 1971. She had gotten recognition for Cell Regeneration for Enzyme Therapy and Autolyzation of Starches (making the fermented veggikraut, and making seed and nut cheeses with Rejuvelac)

With her typical lack of being impressed with worldly acknowledgement, she hadn’t even gotten it framed, or called a press conference about it. She said, “It’s only recognition, it’s not the prize, anyhow.”

God knew what she was doing and that’s all she cared about.
