The audio books are in MP3 format, and some of the videos
also have audio-only clips. Here’s a sample:
Be Your Own Doctor – Chapter 1This is a short excerpt from one of the videos.
If you can play this you’ll be OK with the full-length versions:
Get the Flash Player to see this player.
1. Font size too small? In most browsers if you hold down Control and tap the + mark it’ll increase the fonts by one step. Control – will decrease the font size.
2. High Speed Internet or Patience is required. These videos are very large files.
3. Check is that you have Adobe Flash installed (which you can get for free, here).
4. If the video plays with pauses and jerks, it means that your internet connection is too slow for the data feed. In this case press Pause, wait for the video or audio clip to finish downloading, then press Play again. The progress bar across the bottom of the video will show you when it’s done.
If you can play videos on YouTube then you should be able play these videos – I’m using the same format as YouTube. Because the videos on Grassy Roots are much longer they’re going to take more time to download.
5. If the video plays OK but you can’t hear it, open your volume control and make sure that all of the volume sliders – Volume, Wave, SW Synth, CD Audio, PC Speaker, etc., are all the way up. This usually fixes the “volume is too low” issue.
If your volume control says “Sounds and Audio Device Properties” then click on the “Volume” tab, then “Advanced,” and you’ll get the screen.
6. The control in the bottom right corner of the video is the video volume control. Make sure this is all the way up, too.
7. The symbol that looks like an “X” (five dots clustered together) in the bottom right corner of the video player, next to the volume control, is the control to put the video into full screen.
