I have noticed that when humans plug into compassion and stop using our Earth friends for food, fur/leather, entertainment, and torture testing, they become more respectful of all humans around the globe and therefor are prone to a peaceful society. After all, kindess and compassion starts with the lesser and extends to the greater! As the Indian Nations believed,"we are a web and when you destroy one small strand, it affects everything". When we have killed every animal and tree, and poisoned every last river, then we will eat our gold!

That implies an instantaneous changeover, Jake. With gradual change, populations gradually decrease.

All of the above is true, but what no one has ever talked about is the fact that even if everybody on the planet stopped eating meat the domestic animals now living on farms will still need a place to live and will still need to eat and create waste.

What do the environmentalist suggest we do with the animals once the farmer can no longer afford to raise and sell them? We could release them onto public land, but then the ecosystem of that land will be negatively affected. Animal rights activist speak out against the farms, but would it be more humane to let these animals fend for themselves on tax paid government lands?

I don't have an answer, but it does raise some questions to think about.
